Random Thoughts : Diaries πŸ’™

Robot "feeling" ☝

A robot cannot be ascribed to be a creature with emotions. (as of now).
But I think that using a task-reward architecture, feeling can be simulated in a robot.

Scenario
--------

Consider a room cleaning robot.
Here is the flow diagram -
bool Scan_for_dirt = scan_for_dirt_status (using imaging sensors)

do
if (found)

    give audio feedback "Hmmm - It seems that there is still work to be done...."
    Continue Cleaning
Else
    Flash lights and give audio feedback "Wow - The room is clean Sir...."
    Stop
while (true)

Using feedback - audio and visual a robot can not only simulate happiness but create the same in the owner.
Is this then not an example of a robot entering the human emotion space ?

Popularity paradox

Charles Bronson was a popular cine artist well into his eighties.
Newton was popular and enigmatic in-spite of being of a nervous disposition.
Unstable individuals on account of certain parameters like advanced age or poor health are
remarkably stable in the popularity stakes.
Why this paradox ?

Neural pathways πŸ’§

Consider two people from different racial  backgrounds - a Han Chinese and an African-American, who simply LOVE Black Forest Cake. Although coming from different sociological backgrounds, their Evaluation Function is more or less identical for Black Forest Cake meaning similar perception,
and possibly similar neural activation.
As another illustration consider an assertion "You resemble Einstein !".
As unrealistic as it may seem, it seems to indicate that your nervous system profile matches the alacrity of the great scientist himself.
Is this model realistic ?

Chess without borders ((social) doctors without borders) πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

I, as an Indian, have played chess on the Internet with people :
- of different nationalities (whose political views are diametrically opposite to my own)
- of different faiths (including agnostics and skeptics)
But I have encountered a process where, through Chess, you can connect to the inner thought patterns of your opponent,
and realize that they are analogous to your own.
Is this then a tool for integrating minds across geographies ?

Religion of the Future 😜

Most religions are based on either divinity or sainthood.
Each contemporary religion has it's own norms and conventions, with non-conformists, being labelled heretics.
Instead, what if, religion is based on broader paradigms, like :
* Kids are the epitome of virtue
* Kids are the embodiment of innocence
I suppose, that if this were the case, even atheists would be forced to introspect, and become theists.
Do you agree ?

Spread your Love πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

I think Love should not be closeted and restricted.
By opening your mind you can :
* Increase the range of people you love
* Increase redundancy

  eg) If you have 10 friends and you lose 3, you are left with 7. If you have 300 friends and you lose 100, you are left with 200. (although relatively you are worse off, the absolute value of having 200 friends cannot be underestimated).

Chess blogging - Chessbase is back with a bang !

In view of my keen interest in UI for applications and websites, I feel it necessary to promote an investigation of the new play-chess interface on www.chessbase.com . * It is minimalistic * Allows you to play as Guest * Allows you to choose from different time-controls * Allows you to test your skills vis-a-vis opponents from across the globe Have a look at this interface, that is impressive from a UI developers point-of-view, and very conducive for a chess player to test his wits !  Whoa !  πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

B Trees🌲🌳🌴 databases and CHESS☺

Binary trees are a specific version of decision trees that have two nodes,one parent and two children, and this concept is used in database programming with relational databases like SQL server for creating in clustered and non clustered indexes. Alpha beta pruning together with B tree searches makeup the basis of chess programming. I have played a program that reached its thought horizon and then had a bizarre response inspite of  having an advantage of one pawn♟️
